Sounds and Flavours of Madeira

Santa Cruz starts its Christmas season early. For three days in mid-November the town fills with folk groups, music and stalls serving regional food and drink, organised with local associations from around the municipality.

It is a small-town festival rather than a big production, which is exactly its charm: you eat, you listen to the groups, and you see how Madeirans warm up for the holidays.

Good to know

• It starts at 13:00 on Friday 13 November and runs through the weekend.
• Santa Cruz is on the east coast, close to the airport and about half an hour from Funchal by car.
• The organiser publishes the stage programme closer to the date. Check the official listing before you go.
