Writing about Madeira since 2006
Madeira Blog started in 2006, when there was very little in English about everyday life on the island: festivals, walks, news and the small things that make Madeira what it is. Some of those early articles are still read and linked today, and we keep the most useful ones up to date at their original addresses.
Today the blog is built around what visitors need before and during a trip: a weekly calendar of what’s on, live webcams and weather, and practical guides written on the island.
The calendar
Every week we add festivals, concerts, traditions and sports events from official listings, organisers’ posters and municipal programmes, write a short description in English and link the source on every event.
Photos and posters
We use our own photos, official posters published by the organisers, and images we have permission to use, and we credit them. If you own an image on this site and would like it removed or credited differently, write to us and we will act straight away.
